This course continues the initial orientation in Christian doctrine of faith and discusses topics in systematic theology not yet covered in year 1.
We discuss questions such as: Who is Jesus Christ (Christology)? Why and how is he significant to us (soteriology)? Who is the Holy Spirit (pneumatology)? What is the Bible, Holy Scripture, for a book (scripture) How should we view the church and the sacraments (ecclesiology)? How does salvation become a reality in our lives here and now (sanctification)? How do we expect God to make his future a reality (eschatology)?
We will discuss these theological themes in conjunction with their theology-historical development. A focus here is the intertwining of the development of Protestantism and modernity.
An important part of this course, in addition to systematic theology, is the history of theology.
