Learning objectives

The student: 

1.      can describe the history of the discipline of New Testament studies (ET1; MTP ET1, 2) 

2.      can describe recent developments in this field and relate then to the history the field and to contemporary concerns (ET1; MTP ET1, 2); 

3.      can evaluate these currents from a broader theological perspective (ET2,3; MTP ET2). 

Course content

History of New Testament research. Recent developments in the field. 

Format

Four seminars are devoted to: introduction, the history of New Testament research (discussing Soulen), examples of recent developments in the field and discussing a recent academic article, to be chosen in consultation with the students.

Preparation: 6h (including studying the academic article)

Assessment

Reading report (mark) on the literature listed below, including a positioning of the intended MA thesis subject within the field of NT studies.
